Baja Fishing

The Baja Fishing areas are home to arguably the finest Sportfishing in the world. There are a number of reasons that this might be true. First, Baja’s waters are swarming with Billfish. Some say that more than half of all Billfish worldwide are caught here. The second reason has to be the mild fishing conditions. The Sea of Cortez is like a lake for most of the year. Truly a boater’s paradise. Reason number three would have to be the sheer variety of fish available. Jacques Cousteau called the Sea Of Cortez, the “Aquarium of the World”. Other reasons would include “accessibility”. Cabo’s international airport is served by just about all the major airlines and has daily flights from major cities all over the USA.

It sure is rare to have such a vast and exciting wilderness right on the doorstep of a country as large and sophisticated as the USA. One could take a lifetime to explore the length and breadth of this peninsula. Hidden all over are enchanting bays and inlets. The people are friendly everywhere and one can find villages in the most remote of places. You’ll find great fishing, everywhere. The 173-mile long Magdalena Bay system is a great example of this. Amazing fishing offshore and in the miles and miles of mangrove surrounded lagoons. Other popular destinations would include Loreto, Los Angeles Bay and Mulege. In future posts, we’ll go over each and every one of these locations.

There are a plentiful amount of boat fleets and guiding services in Baja as well. Cabo and the East Cape have many resorts that cater to the sport-fisherman. With the explosion in the popularity of fly fishing, a number of professional guiding services have sprung up. We recommend The Reel Baja on the East Cape. The mighty Roosterfish is considered one of the top five ‘bucket list’ species for the true fly fisherman.

AllAboutBaja.net has been created by a small group of folks who happen to share a great love of everything about the incredible Baja Peninsula. We have lived in Baja for awhile and figured it was time to put together a really complete and easily navigable website about the entire Baja Peninsula.
